Dear Friend,

Happy New Year! Thank you to everyone who made a year-end gift to Zero Breast Cancer. Your generosity makes a big difference for our organization, especially as we launch new initiatives this year, including a new program and a new website coming soon!

I’m excited to share the official name of our newest program: Resilient Me Health & Wellness Coaching. This initiative is designed to provide people at high risk of breast cancer and survivors after active treatment with 12 weeks of personalized, 1:1 Zoom sessions where they will work toward achievable goals to sustain healthy lifestyle changes. The pilot is starting in March! Please consider supporting our pilot with a generous gift today.

As Catherine announced in early January, we’ve started off the new year with staffing changes. We are grateful that Catherine Thomsen is staying on a few hours each month to serve as our Science Advisor even as she transitions into retirement. Catherine has been with Zero Breast Cancer for nearly a decade and throughout her tenure has been a strong advocate for breast cancer survivors, ensuring their voices are prioritized in our partners’ research and in our educational resources. We’re happy for her as she makes this exciting transition, but we already miss seeing her each day! Fortunately, our programs remain in good hands with Lianna Hartmour now directing all of them and Laura Custodio managing our Next Generation Program.

Our impact report from 2023 has been updated with the final data for the year. I want to highlight that we:

  • Engaged 3,794 kids aged 5-8 in Healthy Futures activities across 45 states.
  • Expanded Generations to Generaciones for Spanish speakers
  • Hosted 2 webinars featuring research from the Pathways Breast Cancer Survivorship Study
  • Our survivorship blog articles had 21,264 views
  • 10,720 printed materials were disseminated
  • We had 131,354 YouTube video views

Thank you again for your continued support of Zero Breast Cancer!

David Shao

Yours in health,

David
