Dear Friend,

Thank you to everyone who came to Dipsea, donated, fundraised, and sponsored! We’re thrilled to share that we had an incredible turnout of 122 participants, which is more than the previous few years. The warmth of the day matched the warmth of the community gathered on our behalf to reduce breast cancer risk and support survivors. Check out the photos to see how much fun we all had! With just under $50,000 raised, we still need your help to reach our $100,000 goal. Dipsea funds are crucial to the functioning of our organization. We accept donations to this event through the end of October, so please consider donating if you haven’t yet or if you are able to give more. We need your support now more than ever!

At the forefront of our minds this Breast Cancer Awareness month, is recent research that shows that while breast cancer rates are stable in older women, they are increasing in younger women. Breast cancer risk can be impacted by policies prioritizing and actions taken by pregnant people, children, teens, and young adults – precisely the audiences ZBC focuses on.

We are proud to be the only organization we know of that focuses on reducing breast cancer risk in children as young as 5 years old through our Healthy Futures resources. In the past year, we’ve reached 2,657 kids with this program. We hope you will share Healthy Futures with the children, parents, teachers, and Girl Scout troops in your life. We also have Girls' New Puberty resources for parents/caregivers of pre-teens,  and 13 Ways to Reduce Your Risk of Breast Cancer and Generations resources for teens and up.

Read on to see our latest blogs and resources!

Yours in health,

David

Social Support & the Pathways Study Webinar Resources and Links

Pathways Study Social Support Webinar and Resources

On September 21, 2023, we hosted the webinar “People, Places, and Breast Cancer: The Pathways Study and how our communities impact survival and quality of life.” While many webinar attendees asked about how and where to get support, our speakers and panelists emphasized that systems, like our medical systems and community structures, play a large role in what is available and the quality of support during and after treatment. Access the summary and links in our blog.
